3D print leftovers and growing tiny plants

During my time with the Urban Minds I was working a lot with the 3D printing. Sometimes we printed fun things for 3D icons and random typologies.

We used PLA and we always ended with little bit of the material left. Amount, that would not make for another project but also shame to throw away.

My friend just got this ceramic germination plate from botanopia that gave me an idea to try and print my own plates, using those scraps of PLA.

I created two designs one for small seeds and one for larger plants and seeds, like avocado pits.

I enjoyed watching them grow and now after moving I plan to grow some more avocados again. If you want to try growing avocados, acorns, or anything you find on your walk in nature (more popular these days then ever :) here are the two designs for download.

The small acorn version and larger avocado. The size of the whole plate is 100mm. Or just click on one of the images :)

I do not have a printer at the moment, and if you do first try to help in current situation of COVID-19 and print some equipment for those who need it. There are plenty of resources online, or try here or here.

Then after this is over, lets grow some plants :)

PS. Thank to my friend Eva for the pictures of all these lovely plants.
