Leaf butterfly is an old student project that I keep coming back to in my mind. It is a memory of one of my favourite places in my hometown Bratislava. It is a story of my childhood imagination. It represents how even after we grow up, the child is part of us and it is a reminder to take it seriously. Turning my childhood fantasy into a project has been an amazing experience.
I used to live close to Hlboka cesta in Bratislava. During walks with my mom I imagined all kind of fairy tale creatures living in the small urban forest. One of them was a butterfly with its wings made out of autumn leaves. I used to call this forest “Leaf butterfly”.
As a student I created a project, made these butterflies and placed them into the forest. My inner child loved this, and I believe it is a gesture of respect and gives value to my childhood imagination.
